Description:

Somatic coaching is rapidly gaining attention as more clients become aware of it—and begin asking for it by name. Yet, despite its growing popularity, somatic coaching is rarely included in foundational coach training, leaving many skilled coaches wondering how to safely and effectively incorporate the body into their work.

Coaches are invaluable partners in helping people create meaningful change and reach their potential. But when coaching relies primarily on conversation, cognition and insight, we may be accessing only a fraction of the client's available human intelligence.

The body is not simply the vehicle carrying the brain from one coaching session to another. It is continually communicating through sensations, physiological responses and patterns that can reveal what words alone may not. Learning how to recognize and work with this information can help coaches identify hidden barriers to change, deepen client awareness and support breakthroughs that insight alone has not been able to create.

In this interactive presentation, you'll explore what somatic coaching actually is, why the body plays such a critical role in transformation and how developing somatic skills can expand what's possible in your coaching practice.

After this interactive talk, you will be able to:

  • Define somatic coaching and explain the key role the body plays in accessing a client's full human intelligence and potential.

  • Recognize signs of a potential somatic block when insight, motivation or traditional coaching approaches aren't creating the expected movement.

  • Explain the body's role in sustainable behavior change and why knowing what to do doesn't always translate into being able to do it.

  • Identify when deeper somatic education and training may be appropriate for expanding your coaching skills, scope and effectiveness.
